series of trains, buses, subways
and streetcars that run throughout Center
City and the surrounding suburbs.
Red, white and blue buses with the
SEPTA logo travel in Center City,
Philadelphia. Call for specific travel

Subway lines - the Market-Frankford,
which crisscrosses the city east and
west & the Broad Street Line, which travels
north and south. Fare on most routes
is $2.00. Discount tokens and passes
available at SEPTA sales offices. SEPTA
offers a “day pass” or tourist pass that
allows visitors unlimited riding for a single
day on all city transit vehicles plus a
one-way trip on the Airport Line. Day
passes cost $5.50 and can be purchased
at www.shop.SEPTA.org.
Commuter Rail - Suburban Station,
Market East Station, and the historic
30th Street Station provide transit in and
around the city. Suburban and Market
East are at the heart of the Center City
shopping and business district. The 30th

Street Station provides connections with
AMTRAK (215-824-1600). Also, the University
City Station provides transit service
to the University of Pennsylvania
area. All of these stations connect the
whole rail system with the Airport Rail
Line.
Route 42 - travels from Center City to
the Civic Center and University City.
Route 76 - travels from Society Hill
along South Street to Market Street and
the Benjamin Franklin Parkway all the
way up to the Philadelphia Museum of
Art, the Zoo and Fairmount Park.
Airport Rail Line (R1) - links the entire
SEPTA rail system in Center City with
the Philadelphia International Airport.
Runs daily, every 1/2 hour.
